I attended a seminar conducted by the British Council wherein we teachers were given some tips by a seasoned BC examiner. One of the useful listening strategy that many of us fail to acknowledge (despite being a simple one and to some pretty common sense) is given in the following link by the BC itself. I'm going to use this in my classroom where I have to struggle with students unable to comprehend anything apart from the keywords in the recording to help them get a better score. I hope this may help you as well.
