Children should not be intimidated in choosing their career paths. While some people concur to this notion, this essay will argue why freedom of choice for their profession is an absolute imperative.
There are many parents who decide a career for their children. They often think that forcing them to a certain profession would gratify their roles of being good parents. Their past experiences played key roles for doing such. For instance, a father who failed to run their business while holding a degree in commerce, would likely persuade his son to deviate from that particular study. Conversely, parents who achieved great success on their chosen fields will likely coerce their sons and daughters to undertake the same course. Certainly, these parents want their youngsters to succeed from the former’s preference.
On the other hand, putting pressure to these curious and young minds is definitely unnecessary. Many students excel on their chosen career which they are deeply interested in. One study even shows that motivation or interest is one of the major factors why students succeed. When these people engage themselves to the career they passionately enjoy, they welcome challenges not as struggles, but their way of stepping up to the next level. Successfully accomplishing such tasks bolster their interest to learn more and to go further. Thus, children should be free from the pressure of choosing for their own.
To conclude, it is unwise for parents to choose for their children’s career. Therefore, I firmly believe that the latter should decide for their own future.
