The line graph illustrates the variation in the amount of transporting goods by road, water, rail and pine line in the United Kingdom from 1974 to 2002.
As can be seen from the chart, the amount of goods transported by road always surpassed the rest of modes of transport during all the period.
In detail, after a decrease from about 70 million tones to around 68 million tones for the first eight years the amount of good transported by road rise to the peak of around 98 million tones in the last years. During the same period of 35 years, despite of showing an upward trend, the amount of goods transported by pine line had the lowest quantity with the highest point was 21 million tones in 1995.
It is interesting to note that only in the year 1978 did the quantity of water and rail have the same figure 40 million tones.
