writing task 2

Post by jaggi7921 »

Scientists say that in the future humanity will speak the same language. Do you think this is a positive or negative social development?

There are thousands of languages being spoken worldwide and it is supposed that there will be only one common language in a foreseeable future as a means of communication. Having one language certainly have some benefits but there is also some of the drawbacks of this development.

One evident benefit of having one common language is that there will be more understanding between countries. In other words, if only one language is utilized throughout the world then not only the countries have advantages but also their people can easily communicate with each other and there would be greater sense of belonging between them. Another benefit of spoken same language by everyone is that it helps economic growth of countries. If people can easily communicate with each other then there would be less barriers and thus trade would be flourish between countries.

However, there are various negative points of having only one global language. Firstly, we all know that every country has their own culture. language and identity but if there is only one common language will be used throughout the world then countries will lose their language along with their identity. For example, French language is the symbol of love and France known as the land of romance, but with one common language there will be no feeling of love and eventually their culture will be destroyed. Secondly, there will be devastating effect on tourism industry because there would be no reason to visit any different country if all countries had the same language and similar cultures.

In conclusion, I believe that if everyone spoke same language throughout the world then there would be more disadvantages rather than the advantages.

Hello!

Ah, a classic question where almost everyone forgets one thing! Let's see how you do ...

First main paragraph - good. A little more detail would be an improvement.

Second main paragraph - Almost all candidates fail to provide a solid reason/example for the 'loss of culture'. You have at least made an attempt, but I doubt the French would lose 'love' because of speaking English!

Having the same language does not mean having the same culture. Get a Brit and an American in the same room and find out ...

In the conclusion, you fail to explain why the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

Vocabulary is quite good, but not used convincingly. Same with grammar. You have used 'will' more than necessary. However, there are relatively few errors.

Overall, quite good, but you have fallen victim to some classic errors.

All the best,
David

For example, French language is the symbol of love and that's why France known as land of romance, but with one common language that symbol of love associated with their language will be diminished and maybe it also have effect on their culture.

what you can say about this example 'David'
thanks in advance
